History of Adolescence Group/Communications 426. Ms.Stewart has offered extra credit for you if you participate in this wiki.

This Wiki was a collaboration between Amanda, Liz, and Lynda. We visited Ms. Stewart’s class together to talk with her students. Prior to that we posted questions for the class to answer about what their opinions on adolescence and history were. Lynda was instrumental in getting this Wiki off the ground and initiating our visit to her niece’s classroom. Liz and Amanda offered questions to the site, discussion during the class visit, and help in the stylistic aspects of the site. Thank you for the opportunity to experience a really fun project.

Although we had fun with this class, I had to personally go back and lead the kids to the computer to get them to respond to the questions. I think this had to do with the fact that the kids were just not really in to doing something that was not a "class project" even though the teacher offered extra credit for participation. Lynda.

When someone says "asolescences" what comes to your mind?

What influences do you think teens have on the nation as a whole? In other words, when you are an adult, what do you think your generation will have contributed to the Adolescent culture?

Do you thinks teens are important in the world today? If yes, how?

Do you ever think about what's in the news like politics, war, the environment, or the economy? Do you think it is important for kids and teens to think about this stuff or not?

How many hours a week do you spend online? Where do you go when you are online?

Do you have a computer at home and are you allowed to use it whenever you want? Is it in a room where you have privacy or is it in a room where the rest of the family is? Do your parents have your passwords to the sites you go to?

Do you have anything you would like to say or anything you would like to add to the questions? Feel free!!

For instance, what do you think of the term"adolescence?" Is there a different word you would prefer?

For the eighth graders: Are you excited/nervous about starting High School next year?
